About Us
Nestled in a historic cluster of five long-standing churches, the Clementsport United Baptist Church is a striking example of late-nineteenth-century craftsmanship. Built in 1886 (possibly 1888) to unite Baptist congregations from Goat Island, Clements West, and Clementsport, the church features classic period details—window hoods, gabled windows, and a charming vented bell-tower steeple—all set in a traditional meeting-house design just steps from the roadside.
Perched on a picturesque slope, the building reflects both practical ingenuity and the evolving Baptist roots that shaped the community. Originally serving either a Calvinist or Free Christian Baptist congregation, it became part of the United Baptist tradition after the 1906 unification.
Today, this beautifully preserved former church has been thoughtfully transformed into a vibrant creative hub, offering artist studios and an inviting gallery space. Alongside neighbouring landmarks like St. Edward’s Anglican Church (1787) and Goat Island Baptist Church (circa 1810), it remains a proud and enduring part of Clementsport’s rich cultural heritage.
